The Mason

OVERVIEW

The Mason is on Team Good. It works like this: you put multiple Masons in the game, and they get to know who each other are. Knowing that one (or more) other players are definitely Good is a huge advantage, if used wisely.

We are re-imagining this role as a member of an arcane secret society. Each member has a magical tattoo that is usually invisible, but they can make it glow at will.

The character is a cop at a crime scene, winking or smiling knowingly at the camera and secretly revealing his glowing tattoo as if to say, “Don’t worry, I’m on it.”

We need a bit more diversity in our cards in general, so it would be ideal if this cop was black or Asian or your ethnicity of choice.

CHARACTER

The character is a fit, middle-age professional-looking cop at a crime scene, winking or smiling knowingly at the camera and secretly revealing his glowing tattoo as if to say, “Don’t worry, I got this.”

Maybe a guy like this, but wearing a jacket, because moonlight is a little chilly. Might also be good if he’s wearing his police hat.

POSE and the TATTOO

Pose: this example image isn’t perfect, sorry. I’m thinking winking or smiling roguishly at the camera while showing the magical tattoo, which could be on the back of a hand, forearm, or maybe even neck.

Winking can be hard to draw well, so smiling knowingly/roguishly would be fine. Up to you.

Tattoo: This image shows an general idea for tattoo, but in our case I’m imagining it glowing with a green or perhaps blue light. Any Doctor Strange (the movie) or The Magicians style mystical symbol with lots of glowing runes will work. Remember, Mason is Team Good, so the tattoo isn’t threatening. Pick whatever color looks best with the cop and the scene.

SCENE

The setting is a crime scene at night with police tape clearly visible right behind the cop. Moonlight is a nice town, so it should not be quite as run down as this. The lighting in this image feels about right. Maybe show some shops in the background, and signs of violence: a body bag, blood splatter, claw marks, etc. I will leave that to your imagination.
